The coloration of the zoos has alot to do with the lighting they are under. I bought some that were a nice medium blue but when place under the lighting in my tank they had a more gray appearance. They will color back up alot of times if placed back under the original type of lighting.

Another advantage to porous LR is that it will take less LR to fill your tank meaning less weight to fill the same area, this will make it cheaper to fill your tank with rock.
