question regurding on how to get a button polyp to split

I don't think you can do anything to speed up them propogating except provide the best possible enviornment for them to reproduce. Target feeding will also help as well as good strong lighting.

    Reefman's 20L...

First, how will the two returns be used (together, on a SCWD, etc.). What kind of return rate do you want in the tank? Off the hip I would get a pump with around 500-700 gph which of course you will loose some of due to friction loss and head pressure. I have mainly used MagDrive pumps but...

    Adding more LR?

:welcome to nanotank! :D Cycle the LR in your q tank like you mentioned and then transfer it to the display tank. If the LR is fresh this also gives you a chance to look for undesireable hitchhikers.

    Aquarium Safe Paint

Any paint that is labeled as food safe or food grade will be fine. Regular paint can leach out chemcals even after it has dried. Another option would be to check out www.aquaticeco.com and find some paint that is made for aquaculturing, it will also be waterproof and shouldn't break down in...

    just started

The most I would put in your tank is 2 very small fish, 1 is probably a safer answer though. If you have the percula you mentioned that is pushing the limit by itself due to its potential for growth. If you want a shrimp gobie get one of the smaller ones like a yellow rose gobie or a yasha...

    PhytoMax

I use it and it is extremely concentrated, one or two drops is all you need. It comes with an eye dropper in the top for dosing. It is a little safer to use the phytoplex if you are not sure about the dosing since this isn't as concentrated.

    NEW and excited!

I have been thinking about this tank and I can't come up with a lighting solution that makes sense moneywise because everything I come up with is too costly or you have to toss the hood and filter. You said you had limited space try some of these dimensions: 2 1/2 gallon tank is 12"x6" and...

    Walmart Hex converting to saltwater

THanks for the plug Jesse. I have to agree with everyones posts so far. If this tank is the way you want to go then get the light the Jesse linked you to and forget about trying to keep any kind of fish. A sexy shrimp, hermit crab, porcelin crab, etc. would be doable but I would opt for a...

A question reguarding a brown algae problem!

I have some friends that live nearby that used to use one until careers got in the way of aquarium keeping. They swore by it but I have never used one myself. My first water filter was a Tapwater Purifier (TWP) made by Aqua FX which is basically the same concept only it used a regular filter...

A question reguarding a brown algae problem!

Those of you in California now know our pain, Catalina water is available at Petcos for about $10 for 5 gallons. The Nutri-Seawater is our only other choice for pre-mixed unless its bought from a LFS that mixes. My problem is that the nearest Petco to me is a 3 hour drive away.

    Read me!!! Important!!! Read me!!!

I e-mailed Anthony Calfo about this personally and it is indeed a tragedy. This was either brought on by a board growing too big or (more than likely) because some of the administration began to play favorites. All is not lost though for any of us that wish to speak with an expert, after being...
