    Could I?

Nadia there is a guidline in what fish are reef ready and which are not. The madarin goby will die in 2 months in that size tank. They have a special diet that requires lots of live rock to produce this diet, hence nanos will not work. Get yourself a small goby instead, maybe a coral banded...

    Hello! (and quick question)

Go with the 6 gallon cube. It's smaller foot print will allow you move it around more than the 12. But it will require more nurture than the other since it's smaller you can have water go bad quicker if you are not on top of it. Your parrot will love it, sinces parrots have color vision...

    How deep a sand bed

It depends on how big the tank is and what you want to stock inside. I for example have 120 pounds of live sound in my 72 gallon reef ready tank. Thats about 3 inches of sand throughout the entire tank. Mike

    active carbon

I will be adding two units of chemi-pure into my 72 bowfront. One unit takes care of 40 U.S gallons, so two units will do the job. When I went to Pet Club to pick it up, they were out, so I'll be there today to pick it up. Chemipure is the best I've seen, nothing comes closer to how well it...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Incysor, Your advice is very valuable to me, I will consider all points. I just don't want hot chiller air heating up my living room, that i cannot take. I would have to see how many times would my chiller turn on and stay on, that's when it gets hot. As for the ATO I'm there, I'm...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Ruth, Thanks for the surge idea, but did you know that my Reef Keeper controls all eight of those outlets you saw? I even have one button that is designed for feeding, it shuts off all pumps when I push it. As far at the skimmer pump it's plugged to a regular surge protector that has the...

12 line wrasse - good buy?

I don't know anything regarding the 12 line wrasse. All I can tell you is that the six line wrasse is very unique. It starts of shy and then becomes more outgoing and swims around the tank after it knows it's safe. It's very inquisitive and has unique eyes that can rotate out of it's...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

I'm running a 72 bowfront reef ready with a mag 7 at 480 GPH. I then have a reef keeper to run three powerheads and after much research went with the Maxi-jet 1200. The only problem is they give off 20 watts each, that threw my tank up to 86 degrees with no lights. Without the powerhead...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

In the meantime here are some more pics of my holding tank. All the live rock has been removed and placed in my maintank. I was scared that the loss of live rock would create an ammonia spike, but, with two hang on filters I'm doing okay. What I like about the close up pics is how nice the...

Hey John, Thanks for the input on the fan. As of now, I have no fans in the canopy. But I'm sure I could place a strong clip on fan that would blow across the surface, since I do not have any glass tops... Will the evaporation be a lot. I guess I'm saying should I invest in a ATO switch...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

This morning my 72 bowfront was 83.7 and my holding tank which has a MH pendant was at 79.7. That's 4 degree difference with no lights. I just need to see what type of chiller to get. I'm leaning on the 1/5 horse power JBJ chiller. They have a really neat system online that ask you...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Thanks for all the input on powerheads. I payed a visit down to my LFS and cancelled my order on the Eheim 1212 and opted for three Maxi-jet 1200. I decided I would go with the higher GPH 295 x 3 = 885 gph + 480 gph from my return pump thats minus the head flow from a mag 700 gives me a...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Drty, I've been hearing that I should go much more GPH than the aquaballs for my 72 tank. They have recommended that I go with three Maxi-jet 900, that give of 230 GPH at only 8.5 watts of heat. My return pump with 4 feet of head force brings my Mag 700 to 480 GPH. If I go with the...

72 Oceanic Reef Ready Bow Front Evolution...

Next project on tank is the water cirulation. After much debate on what type of powerhead to use in this setup, I went with EHEIM's 1212 Aquaball. I went this route for the value of price, durability, heat transfer and nozzel direction. It gives off only 6watts of power and gives me 172 GPH...
