question about some do it yourself lighting

I personally have heard of any bulbs coming out that are in the bluer spectrum. If you can tell me a manufacturer and get a better description I have a friend that works in the lighting dept. at Lowes and I could get him to look into it. I don't think I would try to use one of these lights on...

    Edgray's 12 Nano Cube

The bacteria are located in the LR and not in the water so a near 100% water change won't trigger a cycle. When doing a water change in this fashion you should already have the water aerated, heated, pH matched, etc. so the LR and corals are only out of water for maybe 2 minutes, which is...

    More Questions......test kit this time..

There is alot left to desire with the colors of most test kits, they are pretty hard to read because the colors are so similar for different results. The best kit I have found for pH is a Salifert kit, there is a pretty decnt difference between colors making it the easiest to read IMO. It is...

question about some do it yourself lighting

Most floodlights are the wrong color spectrum and will be more beneficial to nuisance algaes. There may be some floods that use PC bulbs that would help some but IMO they are also better suited for growing algaes.

    Rock Question

Great advice from everyone. Clean the rocks in saltwater and return them to the tank so you don't have a long cycle. Keep your lights off so you don't get crazy algae growth.

    More questions...filtering this time..

I only use one sponge in the first chamber so I don't need an extra set, three sponges seems overkill to me unless you were using them for biological filtration.

I have a friend that uses this stuff in his frozen food formula, he spoke highly of it but added it to his frozen food to make it more convenient to feed.

    Not cycling... good or bad?

You just need water movement, air exchange takes place at the surface so as long as you see current at the top of your tank your fine. One thing that came to mind when you said you were growing fuzzy stuff on your rock is are you running lights now? You don't need to have lights on during...

    Rock set-up

The answer to that depends on the particualr clowns, the female will decide where she is going to lay her eggs when the time comes. You can set-up a textbook nursery tank and the female will lay her eggs someplace else.

    Nano-Cube Discontinued???

I have to agree, if they had been discontinued all together we would have know. This letter must be saying this vendor is not going to stock them any more, maybe they are going to switch over to Aquapods.
