    Animals for Pico reef's

That really depends on just how pico you go. With the extremely small tanks IMO there aren't any suitable animals with the possible exception of a tiny snail. If you go to the over 1 gallon range you could then go with a snail or two, a hermit or porcelin crab, or maybe a sexy shrimp. There...

    Algae...

I wasn't suggesting you add a tang, I was relaying past experiences of mine. There are other fish and inverts that are more suited to nano life.

    Algae...

It can be controlled by pruning or the introduction of a herbivorous fish, I used to have a tang that would take it down to the rocks and wait for it to grow so it could do it again.

    Prep questions for a 10g with a 10g sump.

If by "glug jug" you are talking about a system similar to a Nurce they are fine with one drawback and that is they have to be above the tank to work. I have 3 different top off systems, one gravity with a float valve (sump) -works great, second a commercial switch connected to a powerhead-also...

    Prep questions for a 10g with a 10g sump.

I am not familiar with a red footed conch but speaking generally conchs get too big for a nano and need alot of sandbed in order to feed and usually starve in a nano. Do some more research on these before buying.

Go with the astreas, turbotend to act like bulldozers in small tanks knocking stuff over.

How can I keep proper calcium levels on a 24 gal.Nano tank?

Between weekly water changes and the use of a product like B-ionic you should be bale to maintain calcium levels once they are established. IME B ionic is good to maintain levels but doesn't work well to raise levels, you would need another product if you have low calcium levels.

Just like the name implies it is used to detoxify ammonia and is only a bandaid for a disturbance in the natural ammonia cycle.

    Prep questions for a 10g with a 10g sump.

First off :welcome to nanotank!! I think you have the right idea so far, for quiet overflows check out a stockman or durso overflow (the dursos are real quiet, I haven't tried a stockman but they are also supposed to be quiet). Just do a search for durso overflows and you should get plenty of...

was wondering how this lighting would be

Fixtures like that usually come with a bulb around 3000k which is much to yellow for a reef. Like Erik pointed out you would come out better in the long run to buy a retrofit kit.

    new nano setup lighting help

I guess you could build a canopy and see just how many of the 18 watt PCs you can fit in there, the main problem is that you will still only be able to keep low light corals at best. Like already mentioned hex tanks are just not user friendly when it comes to lighting them.
