Sorry smarsh, I did post in your favor from my first response, but after I learned about hello lights and Dragon79 is my younger brother, I had to give him a heads up. He's right there in Anaheim. But you are right a PM would have been in order, I apologize about that. However, you...

    my new cycling 20gal

I like it a lot. I think the branch rock give you a nice theme; different from most tanks. With time it's going to blend in to your surroundings; not to mention you will re-do your tank many times over. I'd try to conceal the heater as much as possible, but thats just me. Other than that...

    Shrimps,,, and how they sleep...

Sorry, But the fire shrimp is dead. If they are not properly acclimated into your new tank and the water parameters in your tank are not stable he will die immediately. Your LFS shouldn't sell you critters for cycling tanks; never. I hope your peppermint makes it. Mike

FS: Coralife 150 watt Metal Halide hang on the tank, 20k

Dragon, This is a really nice product from Coralife, I've heard nothing but good things about it. A lot of them use it on 20 gallon setups. They do a modificaton of inverting the neck. Makes the halide look more uniform with the tank. There are several threads on it on nano-reef.com...

New glass top = over heating

Master, I think a chiller is very important and one of the only reasons I never purchased one for both my nanos is that no one ever designed one for it. The only chiller that was ever created was the ICA unit and we all know how well that worked; kept the tank from reaching disastorous...

New glass top = over heating

Looks like you have a good solution in the making to prevent carpet surfacing for you fish. For my particular tank and it's design, I am completely for glass tops, the tighter the fit the better. My glass top is almost air tight and I get superior results against evaporation. I place two...

    hey all, a lil help!

Lots of coastal waters off of California are contaminated. That is why when you purchase real sea water at a LFS it's bottled at the source, Catalina. In catalina the water is more enriched with the natural nutrients found in ocean water, less to contaminate since they are so far off the...

    Hurricane Rita

Jennie, Thanks for cutting down your lights, I'll find the thread where they talk about how corals can detect weather patterns and adjust to them accordingly. The author suggest that when you cut the lighting pattern at home they will react as if in the wild and go into defense mood; energy...

    Hurricane Rita

Wow, B, it's getting more serious by the hour. Your company is anticipating some concerns. I would start the evacuation as soon as you get off work. I wish I could help you catch your animals and help you pack your rocks; I know you'd help me; just our nature to help one another. Keep...

    Hurricane Rita

Wow, This is serious, I hope if Rita does touch land she weakens to a tropical depression or better yet vears another way out in the gulf. Most of you that are in her touch and have tanks should prepare like incysor, at least battery driven airpumps to keep the tanks with oxygen. You...

    Mini Magnetic Glass Cleaner...Pico Style

I wouldn't worry about the floating part. Floating is a good idea if you have a really deep tank, were if it fell in, you'd need to climb in to get it. With a pico, you could just reach right in and get it or use a pair of tongs to fish is out. Nice invention.... Mike
