OK I want to move the little guy on the left to a different rock. I have "Zap gel". What are the best ways to go about this? I've heard scrape of with a razor blade or chisel the rock so I'm a little insecure. will it die if I just cut it off at the base?
Thanks for the advice. This...
And Welcome to the world of reefkeeping. Isn't it fun not knowing who to believe or what to do even with so many answers. I love it.
What every you add just make sure it's an easy to care for hardy creature until your tanks been up for a while. everything will work it's self out in a few...
When did you start the tank? You might want to consider doing a water change with those numbers.

a lot of useful info for newbies. goodluck
that's a pretty cool shell. I have one electric Blue hermit named Gunther and he just moved into a newer bigger shell. Don't know what kind of critter it was from, but it's probably 2.5" across. They're pretty cool little guys.
I just sold off everything that purtained to all my other hobbies. My wife allowed me to keep my tanks, but we're having a baby so I guess for another 4 weeks or so that is my hobby, my pregnant wife. Then after that I guess it's gonna be figuring out how to be the best dad I can be. I...
I have a 12 gallon and I put LR rubble 2 of the back chambers. I've heard people say this isn't necessary and I probably have to agree with them. The LR in the main display is plenty to take care of the job. I'd recommend getting some underwater LED's and turning atleast one chamber into a...
I've always heard the bigger the better however something is probably better then nothing. I have a 20 gallon sump on a 60 gallon tank. My LFS has 1000 gallon sump on a 300 gallon display. You don't really need it as I'm sure people have already mentioned, but every little gallon helps...
29 gallon display with 20 gallon sump = 49 gallons of water. give or take a few gallons for LR,sand and whatnot.
"Dilution is the Solution to Polution". I like it. :D
Here is a little clip of him and his mantle. He seems to be doing really well but it's only been 3 weeks.

my understanding is in a FO tank lighting isn't really critical. Also if by inverts you meant crabs, shrimp, starfish,etc...... then I don't believe lighting is important for them either.
Good luck.
If you're successful in building your own LED system, pleeeeease post in detail what you've done because I would be very interested in doing something like this as well. I just don't have enough knowledge in this area to know what type of diodes or resistors or how many or any of that.
Good...
I thought star fish always had 5 legs. You guys are always teaching me something, huh. Well thanks for the input. Glad to know he's most likely just going to eat algae. I don't see him very often. only twice since the tanks been up and running..... 6-8 weeks now I guess. I don't even...
Well it's not a "flame" scallop however I have heard it called and electric Scallop as well as electric clam. I've heard they are difficult to keep alive because they don't eat. We will see. I've been spot feeding it and he looks very happy. He found a nice little cave to settle into that I...
Well I guess I will keep an eye on them. For now they're even sharing the same cave to sleep in at night. I've got a tomato and another damsel in my 12 and they are doing OK as well. Thinking about putting them into my 60 with these two. Not sure.
OH yeah.. Can you see all the little tiny...
I've been feeding Kent Marine PhytoPlex. Should I just put it in the tank or should I spot feed him. Yes his mantle is flashing. It's pretty cool. you can see a little of it lit up in the photo above. I'll look into getting some Live food like you mentioned. He still seems happy. how can...
