New to the page. Here's my 4 gallon.

You have alot of brightly colored corals in there, how about a full tank shot when you get a chance. Where are you getting all of the bright corals?

    hello - noob here!

I have both a 6 and a 12 DX nanocube and both are user friendly IMO. You could also start out with a standard 10 gallon tank and build your own system from scratch. If you are looking for a good book on reeftanks I would go with "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Bob Fenner or "Natural...

Setting up for Goby and Pistol Shrimp....Question about sand

:welcome to the board. It looks like you are off to a great start. I think I would go for the goby/pistol pair because I think that the jawfish needs a deeper sandbed than would look right in the cube. Is your cube the regular or the DX model? I also agree that adding some larger grained...

~*~ HeLp Me Out PLz! ~*~

It sounds like you have three choices. You can return the fish and get fish more appropriate for a 6 gallon tank that will not harass each other or keep the fish you have by itself or you can disregard everything already said and learn the same lesson the hard and expensive way. You need to...

    worm in the rock

You can also apply white glue to the area and let it dry, you can then remove the bristles by peeling the dried glue off of your skin.

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

I am using the Tsunami Auto Topoff connected to an extra MiniJet 404 I had laying around. I used a piece of tubing that just fit over the end of the 404, this also happened to be the same size as the threads on a John Guest male adapter to which I connected a piece of RO tubing to that serves...

Getting the right exposure to kill parasites...

I wish you the best of luck. It sounds like you have things well covered short of more medications. Are you still feeding the fish garlic?

added light now one coral not opening

IMO Sadie has hit the nail on the head, give the coral time to adjust to the increased lighting, if it still is drawn up after a week or so you may try finding a slightly shaded place for it.

    Frustration

You may also want to try another test kit if you can't explain the level, they usually have a shelf life of about a year once opened and most have an expiration date someplace on the package. You may be able to have your results checked at a LFS.

    Zoos not opening

I agree to move it up some and then leave it alone for several days to adjust to the new surroundings. You may also want to keep and eye on you tanks other inhabtants, sometimes you'll have a crab that continually walks on the zoos or a shrimp that picks on them keeping them from fully opening.

    worm in the rock

:welcome to the board. My bet would be a bristleworm, kinda reddish with white looking hairs on the sides. Harmless to the tank but the hairs can stick in your skin similar to the spines of a cactus.

Your tank is looking good. The added circulation is usually a hit with the corals.

stock lighting in a 12 gallon dx

The '06 models have the most frequent mods already done except for the removal of all but one sponge, the ceramic rings, and the bioballs. Some people remove the vinyl that covers the back in the center chamber so they can add a light and make a refugium out of the center chamber, I just added...

    Salt level

The temperature the book is referring to is for older models of refractometers, if you check yours you'll probably find that it is an automatic temp compensating model. You used to have to either check the salinity at a specific temp or use a formula to convert the readings for the temp of your...

    New Protein skimmer

Washing a new skimmer in very warm water will remove some of the oils that get on it during manufactureing, this usually shortens the break in period.

Need some advise on my Nano

Thats a definite no on the conch, they need a large sandbed to forage or they will starve. I would avoid sand sifting stars for the same reason. I would also avoid the turbo snails in a nano because they tend to knock things over. Go with smaller snails like trochus, margarita, astrea, or...
