    nano fission skimmer

It will fit but you would be better of buying a surface skimmer if you don't already have one. They start out at around $10 and help to rid your tank of all the film that accumulates on the waters surface. You can keep your water quality up by doing weekly partial water changes. If you get...

I agree with the 96 watt powerquad for a 10 gallon, here is a link to the fixture: http://www.hellolights.com/201xcoaqpcho.html . You may also want to note on this site if you buy a spare bulb when ordering they are about half the normal cost. This fixture also gives more light for about the...

    Anemone Pico Reef 2.5

The anenomes appear happy even though they are not where you want them to be. Isn't that the way anenomes always do, I mean go in the last place you want them and settle?

    nano fission skimmer>tank overflow!

You would probably still need carbon to keep your water as clear as possible, carbon removes yellowing compounds as well as other chemicals that take the clarity out of your water. A skimmer removes organic compounds before they are broken down into ammonia and go through the nitrogen cycle...

My first 12g nano reef, First test results, Need advice

Jesse has pretty well covered the best steps to avoid undue stress on your livestock and their possible demise. Your idea about adding things slowly is right on the money but you just neededd to wait until the cycle completed. It is possible to use cured rock and move things into a tank with...

    Current USA "Fission" Protein Skimmer

A skimmer will not replace carbon, they are 2 different kinds of filtration. The skimmer works as mechanical filtration while carbon is a type of chemical filtration. Carbon will absorb compounds in your tank that can't be filtered out by other methods.

I hope that you have caught things in time to prevent further misuse of your account. Go after them to the full extent of the law.

    Non-reef nano setup...

A mantis would have to be kept alone in a species tank. You could add LR without having to add anything else. A protein skimmer is not necessary, you can control nutrient build-up by doing weekly partial water changes.

Help me sort this out please.

The neuro toxin is in zoos and palythoas (look like big zoanthids). Youi may be able to use the same trick on xenia but if it can lay down after growing tall enough and touch the other rocks it can attatch and spread.

    Non-reef nano setup...

If you are going that way then only a small fish should be added at first. IMO it would be better to set the tank up and cycle it with a pinch of flake food. I would also probably recommend a filtration system that utilizes a bio-wheel. The Eclipse tank I mentioned earlier fits in this...

New to the page. Here's my 4 gallon.

I never would have guessed that was a single 14k light over those corals, the colors absolutely pop!

My 56 gallon custom acrylic, week zero through 6

I have kept dersa clams in the past under fluorescent lighting but I never tried the higher light clams. I did get a crocea but didn't know I had to supplement the lighting with target feeding (it was about 1 1/2" wide).

    looking for advice, down sizing!

:welcome to nanotank Kate. I think a 24" tank would be a good size because you can still use T-5 lights and have adequate room for the clowns, their anenome, and other corals provided they are not huge or have long sweeper tentacles. Give us an idea what the other corals you have are and...

Help me sort this out please.

I can't remember for sure why but I do recall that scooter blennies are not the best choice for reef fish, maybe a polyp biter? A firefish is a good choice or a court jester goby or even the royal gramma as already mentioned. I would either go with a goby/pistol pair or a small blenny for the...

    Non-reef nano setup...

BTW, after seeing my post I noticed that I should have also pointed out that the Hi fin red banded goby and the yase hashe goby will both pair up with a randalls pistol shrimp (alpheus randalli) and are quite interesting to observe the way they live together in the same burrow.

    Non-reef nano setup...

:welcome to the board. If you are not set on a clown take a look at clown, yase hashe, green barred, hi-fin red banded, red head, or trimma gobies, all of these stay pretty small and have alot of personality. You could also try things like porcelin crabs, sexy shrimp, or even a harlequin...

    New Setup - AGA 75 Gallon Pre-Drilled

Peristalic pumps are used alot for dosing kalkwasser, they try to set them to match their evaporation rate so the kalk is added continuously at a very slow rate to prevent it affecting their pH.

    bumble bee snail

I have had them before and had no problems. They are not a cleaner though as Jesse pointed out but they are carnivores. They will eat leftover meaty food that ends up on the bottom of the tank. They do move some but not the constant grazing movements that we are accustomed to in snails...

    Cycling my 12G

I agree that you need a water change to get the nitrates down some. You should be doing weekly water changes now to keep your water parameters in check.
