    Pistol and Goby Pair

Even when they are in the same burrow you will see alot more of the gobie by itself while the pistol stays in the burrow doing whatever it does all of the time.

    My Custom 6G Nano

The UV will kill anything that is waterborn so things like coraline are safe. Products like Phytoplex, Microvert, marine Snow, etc. are stabilized but are not live so there would be no affect on these, its stuff like DTs and the other stuff that is refridgerated that it will kill along with...

    Chiller update (maybe pics)...

Glad you got things worked out. Those things are pretty fickle when it comes to flowrate.

    Pistol and Goby Pair

The main drawback to seeing them is if they decide to face the opening to their burrow away from one of the viewing sides, otherwise you should see them near the burrow entrance fairly frequently.

    Pistol and Goby Pair

They are going to be pretty shy at first. As long as there is nothing in the tank to bully them you will see them more often as they become settled but they are not the kind to stay out in the open all of time.

    Pistol and Goby Pair

If you leave them alone they will find each otrher again, it may take a day or two but IME shrimp/goby pairs pair up fairly quickly. I have a single randalls pistol shrimp in a 10 gallon that has 2 hi finned red banded gobies and I see the shrimp go from one fishes burrow to the other as its...

It is also a good idea to make sure the water is well aerated before adding it to the tank.

    H20 Flow Problems...

I think John and Dawn covered this pretty well but I would like to add that a flow of about 10 times the tanks volume is a minmum flowrate to look for in a reeftank. I also want to point out that no matter the turnover rate you need enough flow to keep from having stagnant areas in your tank.

    20 Gallon Reef Tank

He said he was going to pick up a black background, it would be pretty hard to paint it now (especially with spraypaint which is my personal favorite).

    My Custom 6G Nano

The more you change the better you water parameters should be but you also need to be more careful to make sure that the temp, pH, salinity, etc. match or you will shock your tanks inhabitants. This is a good reason to use either Catalina or NutriSeawater, both of these products are basically...

    20 Gallon Reef Tank

If you can find some black weatherstripping you can use it to help hide the gap in the front. It looks like its ready for corals and fish but add them slowly and allow the tanks biofilter to stabilize between additions. Keep us posted.

    Questions for a bigger tank...

    1. The rule of thumb you mention doesn't really work, think of it like this you can have 2 fish that are each 3 inches long and one of them be long and thin and the other being much rounder. Its obvious that the second fish will weigh alot more and will produce more waste than the long thin...

    How hot is too hot?

I was basing my observations on tanks that returned to a lower temp at night so I would agree that the fluctuation is definitely a big contributor to the problem.

    My cat hates my nano

I guess you'll have to put a water dish beside the bed for kitty. That is a pretty funny story, I have a yellow labrador retriever that will wake me up in the middle of the night if she gets thirsty, she wants me to bring her some water (the bad part is I get it for her but I make her drink it...
