    mixing shrimp

You will want no more than one banded coral shrimp if you choose to keep them unless you can get a true mated pair. Otherwise I have kept all kinds of combinations of shrimp with no problems. One shrimp you may want to avoid though is the camel back shrimp because these guys are polyp eaters.

PROBLEM WITH FILTER CARTRIDGE FOR BIOCUBE ON NEW YEARS EVE!

It sounds like the filter is partially clogged, maybe you can give it a good rinse and see if that helps out any.

UPDATE ON PROGRESS OF 29 GAL. BIOCUBE

With only 8 days since the tank was set up I would be hesitant to add anything, even though the test results look like cycling may be complete I would wait for at least another week to be sure. Then I would start out by doing a water change to lower the nitrates before adding anything. I would...

12 Gal Nano Cube Original Lighting?

:welcome to the board. I have a 12 DX and found its lighting to be adequate for low light corals like mushrooms and polyps, there are also non photosynthetic corals that you could keep in either model like sun corals. I have always thought it better to decide what you really want to keep and...

    Thoughts on macroalgae

Macros can be beneficial in helping to keep mitrates in check and they are also great additions for herbivorous fishes to graze on but like you mentioned they can also be a nuisance, this is especially true if they get established well with no herbivores to thin them. If thats the case the can...

    29g nano tank

With the nano that you have it already has a built in filtration system that also helps the tank with circulation, I thought you may have had a standard 29 gallon aquarium. This should help with some of the language you didn'y understand- http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23 , if...

Kent Deion 200R reveiws? anyone use it?

I am not familiar with the product you are asking about but if you can find a DI unit that has seperate chambers for the resins (one for cations and one for anions) that should work out well for you, since you said you have hard well water the exchange resins will likely exhaust pretty quickly...

    29g nano tank

:welcome: to the board. Like already mentioned you have a fairly long wait before the tank is suitable for adding fish so you have plenty of time to learn more about saltwater fish keeping. You should get a set of basic test kits (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH) for starters. You will not need...

Water softner..how does it affect RO..

If I am not mistaken the 1/2 cup per gallon is a general rule of thumb to mix your water to a specific gravity of 1.021, I know most reefers try to keep their salinity higher and that will take more salt to raise it to the higher level. As far as the softener goes I am not familiar enough with...

    Red vs. Blue

I am not a big fan of crabs because IME all of them have been killers of snails or each other. Some people I know have no problems with them but I think they feed their tanks alot more than I do. Turbo snails are great algae eaters but you already hit the drawback of having them in the tank...

Should I get aCalcium monitor if I already have a PH Control

A calcium monitor is just an easier way to check calcium levels, you have a constant readout instead of having to test every time you want to know the level.

    Firefish Question

I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have them in a tank where you could easily catch one of them and had another tank to move it into. IMO they are too much alike and would fight. I also want to mention (though I am sure you are aware of it) that they are jumpers and need to be in an...

    ID help please

My first thought was coralline cluster, if it is hard and kinda sharp pointed then that is what I would say it is. They are not uncommon in my tanks and pose no problems at all.

    Feeding Corals, Specifically Frogspawn

Maybe it is getting it fill from coepods and amphipods and doesn't want the offerings you having been tgrying to give it. I would keep trying occasionally but as long as it looks good and is growing I wouldn't be too concerned.
