Glass piece on 66 gallon tank

Most say that PCs should be replaced anywhere from 12-24 months depending on who you talk to and the ballast used to drive them. Personally I opt for annual replacement. If you act quickly youj can still getg in on www.hellolights.com July 4th sale where they are selling their 96 watt PC bulbs...

    First Nano Effort...

I would say that you have been reading. On the sand rinsing, if you buy bagged livesand then you add it liquid part and all without rinsing, otherwise rinsing is up to the individual. Some people rinse to rid the tank of some of the cloud causing stuff and others don't saying the fine...

Glass piece on 66 gallon tank

Its hard to say what corals you can or cannot keep without knowing more about your tank, what are its dimensions? We especially need the depth and the distance of the lights from the surface.

    Cleaning the Filter

Good to hear from you again. You have it right, just take some old tankwater and wash the filter material out to get rid of the stuff that can break down into nitrates. Just do this after your weekly water change.

    dieing coraline algea

You could be loosing some of the coralline due to the different lighting you have. It won't take very long and new cdorallinr algae will grow back in its ppllace as long as you maintain water quality and calcium and alkalinity.

Need some advice setting up an aquaround 8 gallon

:welcome to nanotank. You can do a FOWLR (fish only with live rock) with no problem. You will want around 8-10 pounds of LR and then you will need to choose fish that are the right size for the tank. I am not familar with the dimensions of this tank so I will refrain from making fish...

    First Nano Effort...

Flow rate is great, you have some good lighting coming for most corals, and you are off to a great start. If you are using a sponge or bio-media in the Fluval that may cause some nitrate problems a bit later, the sponge could be taken out and thoroughly rinsed at least once a week but it would...

    Set up order

LR is usually just transported in either a bag like you got or wrapped in wet towels or newspapers. After the cycle is complete the next step is as you stated, start adding your clean up crew.

    First Nano

:welcome to the board. First decide what kinds of coral you want to keep to help choose the proper lighting for the corals you want. Then you can determine which tank may fit the bill as a starting point.

    ten gallon hexagon nano

If you are planning on trying to go full reef and keep coral then a 10 hex is not a good tank choice. Due to the small diameter and the depth it is hard to get sufficient lighting for corals. A better choice in the same size would be a standard 10 gallon.
