One of my Pom Pom Crabs is going to be a Mommy, or a Daddy!

I wish she'd hold off on having babies. I'm getting ready to transfer that reef to a larger tank. I don't want to chase baby crabs around! Good grief! Well, at least she's happy, I guess.

He's got an ENTIRE ROOM behind the tank wall for his equipment. Can you believe that! How cool is that!

One of my Pom Pom Crabs is going to be a Mommy, or a Daddy!

One of my Pom Pom Crabs is carrying a rather large, bright orange ball under its body. I assume that it is breeding?? The other two Pom Poms do not have this large orange ball on them. I'll have to do some reading on Pom Pom Crab reproduction.

My documentation of moving 3 tanks successfully

Wow, what an awesome setup! Well done! And THANK YOU for documenting all this. I'm getting ready to do some tank moving (although within the same house) and this give me confidence to try it. Your diary of the move is wonderful. Thanks for sharing it!

SOME REJECTED FISHY DOGGIES!! take a look

I just love all these pet pictures! I would post mine, but it's late and I'm tired. :( I know what you mean by "neglecting" certain things, only in my case it's my 5-year-old daughter, who says, "Mommy, would you QUIT staring at the fish tank, please?"

    Beware of hackers...

That's so unfortunate. I can't believe people sit around and think up ways to damage things and hurt other people. They are such losers!

    Beware of hackers...

A seahorse forum that I frequent regularly got hacked the other night. Almost all of the posts and topics are wiped out. :( The admins are trying to recover it, but I don't know if they'll be able to. It's very sad. So much knowledge sharing might be gone... :( I hope they are able to...

    Stupid Reef Pet Tricks...

That's weird. Mine are almost ALWAYS under the sand until evening, then they come out and forage for leftover food on the sand. Are you sure you have Nassarius? Maybe you have something else?? Do yours have a little "periscope" that sticks out ahead of them?? I call it a periscope because when...

Anyone have experience with Golden Dwarf Moray Eels?

In my planted tank, I have mostly marine plants rather than actual grasses, although I do have a few grasses. I have shaving brush, money plant, maiden's fan, and a couple of macroalgae: caulerpa and something else called "chimney" maybe? I have to say, I love the look of a natural planted...

Anyone have experience with Golden Dwarf Moray Eels?

I kind of have this thing for eels, but I don't think I'm equipped to deal with one that gets large and/or aggressive. But then I heard (here) and read about Golden Dwarf Moray Eels, which are small (no longer than 10") and not aggressive. Has anyone ever had one of these? I imagine they...

    MB7 warning

sadielynn, I am so sorry to hear about the leak in your tank. How awful! I hope you can resolve the issue somehow (setting up a new tank, most likely) without too much stress. I'm glad you caught it early and that it wasn't worse. Good luck and keep us posted...

    sexy shrimp!

I just love those little sexy shrimp! I'm in the process of upgrading my nano reef from a 15 g. to a 29 g., and after I do that and it settles, I'm going to add a motley crew of sexies. I'm sure their entertainment value is very high!

    When to remove the "MOLT"?

Why leave it in? Is it a food source for something?

    When to remove the "MOLT"?

Every time my cleaner shrimp molts, I see his "skin" in the morning and automatically think, "OH NO! He died." And then I see that the skin is see-through and realize it's a molt. I always take the molt skin out because 1) it looks creepy, and 2) I'm afraid it will foul up the water. But mostly...

    to many pods?

Yeah, you can never have too many pods. If you don't want them, send them to me! Mine are growing in numbe pretty rapidly, but I wish a had a lot more.

    Stupid Reef Pet Tricks...

At night, throw in some frozen mysis shrimp and watch your Nassarius snails pop up out of the sand bed like zombies as soon as it hits the bottom. They'll all head straight for the shrimp like little zombies in the night. Kind of eery...

Is there anything else that makes a sound like pistol shrimp

Okay, guys, it's truth time. I think I finally figured out what was making that "pistol shrimp" sound in my tank. It was driving me nuts and keeping me awake at night, because the little 10 g. where my seahorse is in is making that sound also -- and her tank only has dead rock in it, so a...
