    Reverse Osmosis

I also agree. I use RO water (which is escentially pure H2O), but i still do about a 1gal water change once a week on my 6gal. I don't run a skimmer, and i haven't had any problems with my levels. Running a skimmer WILL make a difference in helping maintain your water quality/clarity, but it's...

Want to upgrade, is this enough?

i was talking about the 36 watter - i figured no on the sps, but just wanted to ask in case there was a chance  i'll just stick to the softs and LPS for now

you ever run into any heating problems with that much wattage?

Want to upgrade, is this enough?

Well, i don't know if i'd risk a clam (although i'd love to have one if that's enough light), but i was really wondering if that would be enough light to keep SPS, or if i should just still stick with softs...

Very nice tank! I was just curious how many gallons that is and how many watts of lighting you're squeezing in there. I'd love to be able to keep SPS in my tank, but i'm not sure i have enough lighting.

Want to upgrade, is this enough?

Well, i've finally decided that my pathetic little 13W 50/50 isn't cutting it on my 6 gal tank. I want to upgrade my lighting and found a nice 2x18w 50/50 hood online that would fit my tank perfectly. Do you think that would be adequate lighting? I just want to open up my options on the types of...

    Cleaner Clams?

    Good sand sifters

Hello everyone, Well, i've had my tank up for a few weeks now, adn everything seems to be going good, but the top of my sand is getting a little dirty. I know i need to get a sand-sifter, but i was curious what most people recommend. I have a 6 gal reef tank, with LR and about 2-3" of LS...

    Clowns and Chromis

also, how often do you have to feed clown fish? my LFS guy told me twice a day, but that seems a bit much. And if i were to go with a clown and a blenny, should i put the blenny in first, or will the clown leave him alone if i add it later?

    Clowns and Chromis

yeah, i have about 10 lbs of LR and about a 3" DSB - so no problems with the bio-filtering. Cool - i can't wait to get some fish and corals in there, then i will definately post some pics :D

What other fish are compatible with a yellow tail damsel?

I've also heard that turning off the light, rearranging the rock, then adding the new fish will help. It will confuse the damsel, making it think it's in a new place, and since the other fish will already be there when the lights come back on, they will just re-stake their territories based on...

    Clowns and Chromis

wow  that's actually the most conprehensive explanation of percs i've ever read. Thanks  I'll definately check out that website, and i'll most likely ask my LFS guy what he thinks. 2 clowns might be cool, but one of the other combos would definately add a bit more color...

    Clowns and Chromis

Ok, a few questions here: 1. What's the difference between a true perc and false perc (occelaris) other than the difference in markings/coloration. 2. What coral would be good to host a clown? frogspawn? elegance? or is there an anemone that won't move around too much from where i place...

ok, maybe i'll go back to the LFS tomorrow and pick up 1 or 2 astreas...

    I hate aquascaping!

Well, i finally sat down and did it. I ended up pulling out half the water and sand to move the rocks around, then putting it all in afterwards, but i think it came out pretty nice. The most annoying part was making sure all the pieces were stable enough not to fall over  I'll try to...

I understand that. My question was whether the margaritas really are as good as / better than the astreas as my LFS guy says...

    snails

I just went to my LFS to pick up some astrea snails for my cleanup crew, and the guy there told me to get margrita snails instead. He said they eat more types of algae than the astreas. I was just curious if he was correct on this, or if i should go back and pick up some astreas also. So far...

    Will these get too big?

yeah, that's what i was originally thinking... I figured i'd just be able to go with gobies and the like, but i saw those, and they looked really nice. But i figured they would either get too big, or just need more room to swim. Well, back to drawing board :?

    Will these get too big?

My tank finally finished cycling (yay!) so now i want to ass some fishes. I was just wondering if these would get too big to keep in a 6 gal nano: 1. Copperbanded butterfly 2. Blue hippo tang (dory  ) I'd most likely only get one of the two, since i know i won't be able to keep...
