    Blastomussa...

To get really really nice crisp pics...what vendors do (such as Platinum Reefs and Atlantis) they take top-down shots with no pumps. This takes out the "middle man" which is the acrylic or glass tank which may be dirty that can cause the pics to look less crisp...however you risk the polyps...

    Blastomussa...

All blastos cost a pretty penny I'm afraid...at least those that are worth buying (in my eyes that is), My purples cost me $250 without shipping and at the time they were only 3 heads...they're a lot pricier than acans which is why I feel people should be more selective about their...

    Blastomussa...

T5's are the best thing that can happen to LPS actually. I noticed this with my acans...and then with other things when I tried it out. I borrowed my friend's T5 fixture and suddenly all my LPS got much more vibrant in color...I have the Outer Orbit on my 20 and I'm going to have it...

JBJ 6 Modded by Nanocustoms. My Experience

Your business is only as good as the work you hire ;)...Chris is definitely talented but I'd re-evaluate his help's skill and attention to detail, it could mean a bad rap for nanocustoms. As for the bulbs, II'm not sure they're suppose to have 2 clips each. My hood is also similarly...

    Zuma needs help !!!

Yumas don't like high flow and they do like lots of light. The main problem with yumas is that they require very good acclimating, most fish stores don't take the time or patience to do it properly so you're already taking him a rather weak specimen to begin with...it's a common...

    Warning: Sexies and *some* zoos*

incysor I would like to agree with you in hopes that I can keep my sexies in my tank. But I'm sorry, your generalization just doesn't apply to what I saw. My inverts will always get on my corals and I will see them cleaning up gunk that's on the rock, on the zoo...but I never EVER see them...

    Warning: Sexies and *some* zoos*

Mike if I wasn't sure I wouldn't have spent at least an hour trying to get all 3 sexies out--hunting for shrimps is not one of my favorite past times... I loved these sexies...that's why I tried all other options before coming to the conclusion that they're gonna eat my blue zoos. Otherwise...

    Warning: Sexies and *some* zoos*

I brought home these gorgeous zoos: My sexies basically got on it--I thought oh okay maybe they're cleaning it. Then i noticed they were reaching inside the closed polyps--so I take out a magnifying glass and yeap...I see them reaching in for tentacles that were trying its best to stay...

Storing mixed saltwater and keeping it fresh

No hot temperatures...keep it cool...hot temperatures can harbor unwanted bacteria. Make sure the place isn't humid...you can get mold growing on the container...and make sure that it's an airtight lid with no sun in the room...you don't want to open a whole can of algae.

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Those zoos went to a good home, the pinks look awesome...I can't wait til you post a pic of the eagle eyes :). Is that shrimp still alive? Or was he just playing dead? When I picked up my crab to put him in the tank he played dead for a minute or two, maybe that's what he was doing when you...

rbaby's 12g Nano Cube (img ext)

Hey Steven, I also have a barnacle blenny named Larnie :)...he's on the far far right of the pic, rarely ever leaves his barnacle... Mike, The macros were taken with a Fuji 6900...but the tank photos were taken with the S500 :).

    new with questions

Stock cube lighting will not suffice for an anemone...and seeing that you are new at this, I highly recommend that you do NOT buy one at all. They really are not a good choice for a nano tank...mainly for a couple reasons: 1: most of their body is made up of water--making them VERY sensitive...

rbaby's 12g Nano Cube (img ext)

Here's an updated tank shot. I got some frags from someone who bought my tank...for a deduction to the monetary trade that is. I will be trading off my hammers though, that big xenia, the Monti digi and probably my rics and some zoos. I also got a new coral...a pretty brain that can be seen...

    Good sand sifters

Ever since I dealt with my algae problem I haven't had any outbreaks on my sand...I do get poopy all over the place but I'm slowly starting to grow a respectable pod population and they're taking care of cleaning up my sand. I do however have 1 nassarius snail that does wonders...the little...

    First time

Fishes are generally easy to care for...so your fish livestock possibilities are pretty much whatever you fancy. As far as corals...SPS require constant calcium levels...which means 1: you have to test it often to make sure that you are maintaining the levels...2: you have to dose...

LR is getting a sort of white webbing on it....

Hi incysor, I don't have any articles in mind either. My information was based on my personal experience as well as other reefers'. It has happened to me twice where a bristle tried to web down my clown as a baby...boy was I pissed. It has also happened to a couple of friends of mine as...

    First time

Hey Scott, Welcome to the hobby. Well, for starters...I would say that if you want to start out cheap, buy dead sand...and grab a cupful or two of live sand from your friends' tank and seed it. I would say go for the same philosophy of seeding with a little bit of live rock to seed some...
