Jesse is right. Don't use Tap water period. Even if a LFS does not carry RO/DI water, then go to a local grocery store and use their RO/DI there as a last resort. Good luck.

try placing them in different locations and see what lives and what dies. examples: some real high, some mid level, and some on the sand bed......see how they react. Test using some cheapy ugly common brown zoo, and or whatever is alive in your tank.
