Ok, so I am a procrastinator. I have my filter floss, I have a piece of black plastic to cover the vents. I have read that people have used super glue gel to adhere rocks together, and am planning on using it to cover the vents with my black plastic. Have you herd of this being problematic...

I guess what I am not getting is. . . If I take out the sponge and the rings, I'm left with: Chamber 1 = Empty Chamber 2 = Bag of Carbon Chamber 3 = Pump & Heater Where does all the gunk that I normally clean out of the sponge go? Do I replace these things with something better...

I'd like to add a skimmer to my 12g AquaPod. All of the chambers in the back of the tank are stock (sponge, carbon, rings, pump) except for the heater in the third. Is there one that is recommended or is this better done through modding something I currently have. To that effect, are there...

Does this look like there may be too much water movement? The powerhead is adjustable.

Another option (although it's generally panned) is researching Biospira, not the conventional or patient way to do it, but there have been some nice success stories

Is/was this rock cured properly? The thing in four could be something yet to fall off. . .

It's a little under a year, but was pretty neglected until recently. I bought the tank based on the box (just add fish), but as I have learned more I have developed a respect for the skill this takes to do properly. I'm making up for lost time while tying to be as responsible as possible.

I did a real good job overthinking this one. With the powerhead on the left blowing to the right and pulling from the front I completely bypassed any of my tank's filtration. As it turns out the powerhead was just fine stuck to the back of the tank being supported by a rock. (on the right)

Thanks SWNewb, Taking a look at your thread really gave me a good base for understanding how your fuge was set up. It looks like your canopy top is open around the actual light housing, does this negate the need for fans? The pictures of your corals are great too, what camera/ macro lens...

Weld-on #16 on a piece of black plastic from the back of an old CD case. Cut the plastic a little large (so there is no oozing) and use the sponge that came with the tank to keep it held into place.
