hello,
what king of coral would be good with this setup in a 2.5 gallon tank:

-2 of these lights (upgrade if needed  ) :

http://www.bigalsonline.ca/catalog/prod ... 843&pcid1=

-50 watt heater (smallest i can get, but very reliable)

-Aquaclear mini with sponge and carbon

-Aquaclear 201 powerhead if needed

-thermometer

-hydrometer (what would be the specific gravity?)

Also, would I be able to keep any type of fish in this setup that, isn't very hard to feed?

Thanking you in advance

Lets see.....Where to start.

The lights you mentioned don't include a balast, power cord, etc...It's just the lamp. I don't know what the space requirements are for a 2.5g, but you can easily do better for the same amount of money. Read some threads...Especially the ones in the pico forum.

Most are running more filtration than that on a 2.5.

I honestly don't think there are that many fish that are appropriate for a tank that small. However the ones that I have suggested are the yellow clown goby, and the red headed goby. A neon cleaner goby would be good as well.

Here's a thread all about it.

Welcome to the site. You shouldn't have any trouble finding folks that'll help you out on here.

For lighting those could work but I would use either of these:

The first one would allow you to keep higher light corals but the second would be fine for softies and most LPS corals. IMO a 2 1/2 is a great tank for zoanthids and mushrooms. Almost any type of polyp is a good choice as well.
If you want a smaller heater the look at www.drsfostersmith.com and look up catalog number: NX-120415. It is a 25 watt heater that is 6" long a the smallest in diameter I have ever seen.
You really don't want to place a powerhead in a tank this small if you can avoid it, alot of reefers modify either an Aquaclear 300 or 500 into a mini hang on refugium. With a refugium you will have more filtration and it will take care of your circulation needs at the same time. There has been a thread within the past several days about making this modification (its easy and cheap).
I would recommend that instead of a fish you have one or two shrimp in your tank, but if you really want a fish then I can only recommend one of the very small gobies like the clown gobie, red headed gobie, or maybe a barnacle blennie but I would want to research that one some more before I tried that one. Good luck, Skip
