Well other then the buld I dont think much else. A reflector maybe. But I think you have to do some of the wireing yourself.

Steph,

I ordered that exact ballast kit 2 months ago from Hello lights. I sent it back and I'll tell you why.

You have to have somewhere to mount it. It's designed for the eclipse housing so if you have that, you'll be okay.

Also the wiring is way too simple, just connect a couple wires and screw in the caps and you are done.

The ballast is very heavy and would not fit correctly on my cube when I was trying to add more light.

Hope this helps out.

Oh yeah, you can add the reflector for a couple more dollars.

yes you can screw this to a canopy, in fact you have to attach it to something. as far as plug and play goes you have to do some basic wiring but other that that its ready to go.
what size tank are you planing on using this on and how many are planning on using?

Has anyone tried the screw in pc bulbs that have the ballast attached to them? I think there like 10 watts per buld but it would be easy to make your own hood and screw like 2 or 3 of them in there for a small tank. A very easy DIY project.

I think they're pretty much a waste of money. They're about the same price as pc bulbs that are much higher wattages. They also require more height-space because they're fatter than most normal pc bulbs.

I actually got 2 of them for 2.5 gallon and a 3 gallon tank with a DIY Wooden Hood I made. I only got the Actinic Bulbs for these for the Dusk/Dawn effect w/ a seperate timer. I used the Screw in 20W PC Bulbs in addition.

Here is under the hood for the 3 gallon...

BTW, is this the same Stephane from Montreal involved with Reef Solution?

How much did that end up costing you? I bet it was a pretty cheap solution. I like it. :D
